The Preparatory Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Elijah Wirth, has been selected as a semi-finalist in the school division for the American Prize in Band/Wind Ensemble. As a semi-finalist, The Preparatory Wind Orchestra will be considered for a position as a finalist, runner-up, or winner for the American Prize in Band/Wind Ensemble 2016.
The Columbia Symphony Orchestra’s last concert of the season on April 11 includes three winners from the 2015 Young Artist Competition, sponsored by Gailes’ Violin Shop, performing Mihlaud’s Scaramouche for Saxophone, Mozart’s Concerto for Clarinet, and Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor. Two of the winners are members of the Peabody Preparatory. Caleb Park, cello, is a member of the Peabody Youth Orchestra and Helen Yang, clarinet, is a member of the Peabody Wind Orchestra. The concert is at 7:30 pm at 5460 Trumpeter Road, Columbia, MD 21044.
