Claire Weber (MM ’15 Voice), mezzo-soprano, won third place in the Emerging Artists category of the James Toland Vocal Arts Competition in Oakland, California this past June. Ms. Weber, a student of Dr. Steven Rainbolt, recently sang the role of Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Bel Cantanti Opera in October, and will be competing in the Concours International de Chant-Piano Nadia et Lili Boulanger competition taking place in Paris this November 12-15 with pianist John Henderson (MM ’15, Composition). Ms. Weber was recently appointed to teach Singing in French and French Mélodie for the Peabody voice department.

Emily Tate Performs Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Bizet’s Carmen Reply
Master’s student Emily Tate, soprano, sang the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Brooklyn Summer Opera Institute this past summer. Ms. Tate was also chosen as one of two sopranos to participate in the Asheville Lyric Opera Company’s young artist program this past August, and was contracted to sing the role of Frasquita in the Asheville Lyric Opera’s upcoming production of Bizet’s Carmen, in which she will also cover the role of Micaela. Ms. Tate is a student of Dr. Steven Rainbolt.
Katherine Bell Performs Donizetti and Premieres Maren of Vardø: Satan’s Bride by Jeff Myers Reply
Master’s student Katherine Bell, soprano, sang the role of Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir D’amore with Opera Libera in Philadelphia this past summer, during which time she prepared for the role of Maren in the world premiere of Maren of Vardø: Satan’s Bride by Jeff Myers this past August with Vulcan Lyric Theatre in Philadelphia. This spring, Ms. Bell will sing the role of Despina in Peabody Opera Theatre’s production of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte on March 13-15 at 8:00 pm and March 16 at 2:00 pm. Ms. Bell is a student of Dr. Steven Rainbolt.
Young Eun Lee Performs Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with La Musica Lirica Reply
Master’s student Young Eun Lee, soprano, performed the role of Lauretta in Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with La Musica Lirica in Novafeltrici, Italy, this past summer. Ms. Lee is a student of Dr. Steven Rainbolt. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Sungshin Women’s University in Korea.
