Sophomore Jennifer Nicole Campbell, a piano student of Brian Ganz, was awarded first prize in the Senior Division (ages 19-25) of the 1000 Islands International Chopin Piano Competition. Campbell competed in three different rounds of the competition from September 9-11 at the competition in Cape Vincent, N.Y.
On Thursday, October 6, at 7:30 pm, Peabody musicians will present a concert to benefit the Lijiang Ethnic Orphan School and other Chinese children in need. Pianists Hui-Chuan Chen, Jiayin Shen, and Sidney Yin—all doctoral candidates—and the Beijing Guitar Duo—Meng Su (PC ’09, GPD ’11) and Yameng Wang (MM ’08 , GPD ’11)—will perform. Two Peabody students were among the winners of the 2011 Eastern Music Festival Concerto Competition. Junior Michael Delfin, a piano student of Boris Slutsky, performed Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in A major, S.125; and sophomore Dillon Meacham, a bassoon student of Philip Kolker, performed Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in B-flat major, K.191 (mvt. 1).
MM candidate Tian Lu, a student of Boris Slutsky, won co-silver medal at the 55th World Piano Competition in Cinncinatti, Ohio.
