Jordan Prescott to Play at Washington National Cathedral Reply

PrescottPeabody master’s candidate Jordan Prescott, organ, will present a recital featuring works by Bach, Franck, Johannes Matthias Michel, and Messiaen at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The concert will take place on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at 5:15 pm, and will be free, but with $10 suggested donation. Prescott will play the cathedral’s 10,650-pipe great organ for this concert.

Felix Hell to Release New Album Reply

Felix hellOn December 1, 2018, Felix Hell (AD ’07, MM ’08, DMA ’16, Organ) will release his most recent CD, “Poetic Visions,” featuring romantic organ music by German composers. It was recorded on the historic 1902 E.F. Walcker Organ in Lüdenscheid, Germany and will be released by MSR Classics. The program includes works by Max Reger, Johannes Brahms, Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, Felix Mendelssohn, and Franz Liszt. This is Hell’s twelfth album. Gu Wei and Mi Zhou Chosen for Commission Project Reply

AGO-ProjectGu Wei (MM ’17, Composition) and Mi Zhou (MM ’18, Organ) were selected as one of the four composer/organist pairs by the American Guild of Organists (AGO) for their Student Commissioning Project 2019. The project is AGO’s most recent new music venture, with the initiative of creating new repertoire for the organ. The pair will produce a new organ piece to be premiered in Spring 2019, followed by another performance in the same year.
