Tong Chen (GPD ’11, Conducting) won sixth prize in International Malko Young Conductor’s Competition in Copenhagen, Denmark, in May. Early in April. Chen was named the 2012 Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Scholarship selected by Maestro Kurt Masur, the former music director New York Philharmonic and Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

Simeone Tartaglione (GPD ’09, Conducting) has been hired as music director of the Delaware Youth Symphony Orchestra and core orchestral department head at the Music School of Delaware in Wilmington, Del. He also conducted six concerts with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and was offered the position of associate conductor.

Simeone Tartaglione (GPD ’09, Conducting) has written Teresa Procaccini, Una Vita Per La Musica, which has been published in Italian by EDIPAN, Rome. Procaccini is a composer whose productions over the last 50 years have delivered several masterpieces for symphonic, opera, chamber, and solo repertoires.
