Cantrelle Canadian debut Reply

Mezzo-soprano Diana Cantrelle, master’s candidate in voice  and minor in composition, will be making her Canadian debut on Dec. 11 and 12 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  She will be the alto soloist in The Messiah by Handel with the North Grenville Concert Choir and Orchestra – conducted by Gordon Slater.  A DVD and CD will be made from these performances.

International Conservatory Week Festival Reply

Mezzo soprano Yun Kyong Lee (BM ’09, MM ’10), soprano Jennifer Edwards (MM ’09), and guitarist Mark Edwards (MM ’09, Guitar), along with  voice faculty member Vera Danchenko Stern, piano, represented Peabody at the Tenth International Conservatory Week Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The singers performed with composer and pianist Lori Laitman, a Peabody National Advisory Council member who was the festival’s Distinguished Guest Composer. The festival, held from October 22-29, also included performances by the Morgan State University Choir led by Eric Conway (BM ’85, MM ’87, DMA ’95, Piano).

Following the festival, Lee and Danchenko-Stern presented Laitman’s music in joint recitals at the Moscow Conservatory and the Gnessin Academy of Music.

Rivas BSO Debut Reply

BSO-Peabody Conducting Fellow Ilyich Rivas will make his Baltimore Symphony Orchestra debut in a subscription concert at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, on Friday, Oct. 14, and Saturday, Oct. 15, and at the Music Center at Strathmore, on Sunday, Oct. 16. Rivas appeared on WAMU’s The Kojo Nnamdi Show to speak about the concert.
