Yao Lu wins Best Stereo Classical Recording award at the AES Student Competition in San Francisco.
Faculty artist Stacey Mastrian will sing at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Italy, this winter for Nono’s opera Intolleranza. She will have a solo and is covering the female lead. She will also sing La fabbrica illuminata for the Electronic Music Foundation in NYC in February and some Berio and Maderna at North Carolina Greensboro in March, along with various other upcoming collaborations.
Danya Katok (MM ’09) and Andrew Sauvageau (GPD ’10, MM ’08) will be making their New York City Opera debuts on April 9, 2011, in a semi-staged performance of Oliver Knussen’s opera Where the Wild Things Are.
Curtis Bannister (GPD ’10) has been named an apprentice artist with Sarasota Opera in Fla., for its Winter Festival season, which begins in January. At Peabody he studied with Steven Rainbolt.
