Hans Kristian Goldstein (BM ’10) has been selected one of 25 official participants in the XIV Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow from June 14 to July 2. Cello applicants included 140 people representing 32 different countries, including: Russia (26), the United States and South Korea (17 each), Germany (7), France (4), Holland, Norway, Switzerland, Venezuela, and several former Soviet states.
Malori D. Fuchs (BM ’09, Violin) is the youth programs coordinator in the Education Department of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She also teaches private violin lessons to middle and high school students in her hometown of Frisco, Tx.
Karl Pedersen (MM ’07, Viola) has been named principal violist of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio.
Mary Reed (BM ’10, Double Bass) is the first winner of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra-USC Thornton Strings Mentorship Program, which offers mock orchestral auditioners a chance to perform with the orchestra. Reed performed two concerts with the LACO in April and has been hired as a substitute musician for the rehearsal-performance period.
Sean McClowry (BM ’00) is on the faculty of The College of St. Rose in Albany, N.Y. He will be teaching music industry studies which will include record production, electronic music, songwriting, and bass.
