The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra announced that Christian Colberg (BM ’89, MM ’91, GPD ’93) has won the spot of principal viola and will begin his tenure in September. Colberg, a native of Puerto Rico, was previously with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where he served as assistant principal viola.
On July 20, faculty artist Marian Hahn performed in the Tuesday Carnegie Chamber Series at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C., as part of the Eastern Music Festival, where she is a visiting artist.

Musicology faculty member Susan Weiss gave a paper at the Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference at Royal Holloway college in the U.K., and at the Medieval Congress at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich. Earlier in the semester, Weiss travelled to Munich to give a paper and workshop at the Collaborative Research Center at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität.
In June soprano Jessica Abel (MM ’08) performed the role of Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore with the Victorian Lyric Opera Company in Rockville, Md., as well as in Gettysburg, Penn. as part of the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival. She was also a 2010 finalist and prizewinner in the Friday Morning Music Club’s Washington International Competition, which took place on June 5 at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theatre in Washington, D.C
