Washington International Competition for Piano Reply

Two students of Boris Slutsky have been chosen as semi-finalists of the 58th Annual Washington International Competition for Piano. Doctor of Musical Arts candidate Jee In Hwang and junior Sejoon Park will compete on May 27, starting at 9:00 am, at the Benjamin T. Rome Hall of the George Washington University, located at 801 22nd Street, NW, Washington D.C. The finals will take place on May 28, at 2:00 pm, at the Terrace Theater of the Kennedy Center, 2700 F Street, NW, Washington. D.C. The semi-finals and finals are free and open to the public.

Murry Sidlin to recieve JHU Alumni Award Reply

Murry Sidlin (BM ’62, Music Education; MM ’68, Instrumental Conducting), recipient of the 2011 Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award, will conduct a full performance of the Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Choir on the grounds of the former concentration camp at Terezin, Czech Republic on June 12. Sidlin is the founder and president of The Defiant Requiem Foundation, which sponsors the Rafael Schächter Institute for the Arts and Humanities that will offer several weeks of lectures, seminars, panels, and artistic presentations in June.
