IDRS conference Reply

Philip Kolker, chair of the woodwinds department, attended the International Double Reed Society conference in Birmingham, UK. Kolker performed Three Lyrics for Oboe, Bassoon and Strings by Paul Valjean with long time friend and colleague Daniel Stolper and the Coull Quartet and was a judge for the first Young Artists, Bassoon Competition.

James Olin and Edward Hoffman join faculty of Asian Youth Orchestra Reply

Brass faculty members James Olin and Edward Hoffman are serving on the faculty of the Asian Youth Orchestra. The Orchestra, founded in 1990 by Yehudi Menuhin and Richard Pontzious, is made up of talented young musicians from China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The musicians take part in a Summer Festival and Rehearsal Camp in Hong Kong, and an international concert tour with celebrated conductors and solo artists.
