Updates from Inna Faliks Reply

Inna FaliksInna Faliks (BM ’99, MM ’01, GPD ’03, Piano) performed Mahler 6 with Daniel Schlosberg (BM ’00, MM ’01, Piano; KSAS BA ’00, History) at the National Gallery in December. The Washington Post called this a “Herculean performance.” In November, Faliks performed and gave master classes in the nation’s top conservatories for her second tour in China. She also presented master classes and recitals at Mondo Musica Cremona, Italy, and served on the International Symposium on Conservatory and University Music Education in September. In August, she gave her Ravinia debut with Schlosberg in the four-hand transcription of Mahler’s Symphony No. 6 by Alexander von Zemlinsky and Schlosberg. She performed Beethoven Third Concerto at Music in the Mountains Festival in Colorado, and gave solo and chamber music performances at Newport Festival, including the premiere of the one-woman show “Polonaise-Fantasie, Story of a Pianist” in July. She also released a recording on Delos Label, titled Polonaise-Fantasie, the Story of a Pianist – a recital-monologue based on autobiographical essays, interspersed with a wide range of pieces from Bach, Mozart, and Chopin to Gershwin, Carter, and Birtwistle. Finally in June, she created, directed and performed in UCLA’s Dialogues and Reimaginings Festival, a three-day festival exploring connections between music old and new.
