runestad.jpgAve Verum, a piece by Jake Runestad (MM ’11, Composition; MM ’12, Music Theory Pedagogy) commissioned by the Choral Arts Society of Washington D.C. and conductor Scott Tucker, made its world premiere on April 23 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Ave Verum is a collaboration with poet Todd Boss that explores Mozart’s creative process as he was writing Ave Verum Corpus in order to contextualize Mozart’s humanness and illuminate the personal meaning behind one of his most beloved works. On Friday, April 28, Mr. Runestad’s Dreams of the Fallen was performed by the University of Puget Sound Orchestra and Chorus with Tanya Stambuk, piano, under the direction of Wesley Schulz, at UPS’s Schneebeck Concert Hall in Tacoma, Wash. On April 29 and 30, Untitled, a commission by Miami University Men’s Glee Club, received its world premiere at MU’s Hall Auditorium in Oxford, Ohio.
