Teng Chen to Record the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Performing Holst’s ‘The Planets’ and More Reply

261492c2-8a8d-4ef0-96e9-b4f8845d1c43Recording arts and piano student Teng Chen will record the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Choral Arts Society Women’s Chorus with director Tom Hall, percussionist Christopher Lamb, and conductor John Storgårds in concert on Friday, May 20. The program includes Tan Dun’s Water Concerto, Libby Larsen’s EARTH Holst Trope – a BSO Centennial Commission and world premiere – and Gustav Holst’s The Planets. Ms. Chen will likely continue to record more of the orchestra’s concerts in the coming season. Teng Chen is a freelance audio engineer located in Baltimore, Maryland, who has worked with musicians including Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax, Joshua Bell, Jeremy Denk, Vijay Iyer, and Billy Hart. She spent past summers at the Tanglewood Music Center (with the Boston Symphony Orchestra), the Banff Centre, Spoleto USA, and the Brevard Music Center working as an audio engineer under the supervision of engineers such as Shawn Murphy, Tim Martyn, and Theresa Leonard. Ms. Chen will graduate this fall with dual BM degrees in piano performance and recording arts and sciences, as well as a master’s degree in audio sciences with a concentration in acoustics.
