Faculty artist Ah Young Hong is the soprano soloist in a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony now airing on many public television stations across the country, including on Washington, DC’s WHUT-TV on Saturday, April 9th, at 1:00 pm.
Ms. Hong joined the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and Westminster Choir College’s Symphonic Choir in this concert celebration of the 100th birthday of renowned Princeton philanthropist, musician, and scholar William H. Scheide. Conductor Mark Laycock led the performance, which also featured mezzo-soprano Leah Wool, tenor William Burden, and bass-baritone Mark S. Doss. PBS producers filmed the 2014 concert live in Princeton’s Alexander Hall.
Ode to Joy: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is currently slated to air on more than 20 PBS stations in April and May. Viewers can search their local PBS station’s schedule for specific air dates and times. Maryland Public Television will air Ode to Joy on their MPT2 channel on Wednesday, June 23 at 8:00 pm.
