Rise, composed by faculty composer Judah Adashi (MM ’02, DMA ’11, Composition) with poetry by Tameka Cage Conley, will be performed on Tuesday, April 19 at 6:30 pm at Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Church. The performance features Afro Blue, the Howard University Choir, the Occasional Symphony, and the Peabody Community Chorus. The event begins at 6:30 pm with a conversation on art and activism in Baltimore, featuring Aaron Maybin, Sonja Sohn, Tariq Touré, and D. Watkins. Dr. Adashi will also have his work for cello and loop pedal, my heart comes undone, performed on Friday, March 11 at 7:30 pm at Switchboard Music in San Francisco, California by Giacomo Fiore on electric guitar and loop pedal, on March 13 at 7:30 pm at the National Opera Center in New York by loadbang on trumpet, baritone voice, trombone, and bass clarinet, and on April 18 at 8:00 pm at Makespace in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania by Zane Forshee on electric guitar and loop pedal.
